Friends of Prairie Parks
Volunteer, and make a differennce!
The Friends of Prairie Parks serve as a valuable volunteer support organization for the Marion County Park District. Members help to develop and maintain the parks, and also present programs for members and for the public. calendar of events.
Outings include trips to rail-trails, canoe trips, and charter fishing excursions. The group also has work outings, business meetings and potluck dinners.
Please consider making a difference in Marion County by joining the Friends of Prairie Parks.

How You Can Help:
- Make a tax-deductible donation to the Prairie Parks Foundation, P.O. Box 651, Marion OH, 43301

Purchase an engraved paver ($100 or $200) for installation in the walkway at the trailhead. Order forms are available on the side of the information board at the trailhead, or download the PDF.
- Trim honeysuckle and other branches back along the trail.
- Mow grass at intersections.
- Carry a trash bag as you walk along the trail and pick up any litter that you see. (The county park district has no employees devoted to trail maintenance, so all work is done by volunteers.)
- Keep others safe by tossing fallen branches off the trail.
- Organize a weekly walking or bicycling outing along the trail and invite others to join you.
- Report suspicious activities to the Marion County Sheriff office at (740) 382-8244.
- Report trail safety or maintenance concerns via the answering machine at the park office (740) 223-4161. The machine is checked several times a week. For quicker results, send an email via the “contact us” link on the park district website at www.marioncountyparks.info
- Plant and maintain small plant beds at intersections where the trail crosses roads.
