Myers Woods is a five acre wooded property near the Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area in northern Marion County at 3965 Wyandot Marion Rd, Harpster, OH 43323. The park is located on Marion-Wyandot Road, halfway between Stauffer and Prospect-Upper Sandusky Road. This park is a quiet, reflective woodland. It is well suited for a short stroll in the quiet woods, enjoying wildflowers, birds and other wonders of nature. The park was donated to the park district in 1996 by the late Judge Charlton Myers and his family. In a press conference announcing the donation, Judge Myers quoted the poem "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer: I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day, And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain; Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
"Trees" was originally published in Trees and Other Poems. Joyce Kilmer. New York: George H. Doran Company, 1914. |
